Weekly Update 3/31

This week's SHS Faculty PD!

The Rhode Island Dream Center provides services to the homeless community, such as food, clothing, etc. They also do an Adopt-A-Block program where they fund a piece of land locally and give it a makeover.  The Rhode Island Dream Center has asked that I circulate information regarding an upcoming 5K.  The event is called Run 4 Hope on May 13th. SHS students looking for community service hours should review the link to register. The link includes prices, registration time, etc.

Congratulations to the SHS Chorus for their performance at the RIMEA festival.  They received an Excellent Rating!

Today is one of my favorite days of the year.  Our annual Home Unified Basketball Game played in front of the entire school.  We had an awesome game between SHS and Johnston High School. School spirit was fantastic!

SHS students have been working at the RI Convention Center this week helping out at the Home Show. Check out this clip for more info:

Students recently attended the Marine Trades Careers Fair at NEIT. They expanded their knowledge in the fields of welding, design, navigation, motors, and composites.

Under the auspices of the Tech Collective, RI's Technology Industry Association, students attended a free showing of Hidden Figures. It was followed by a panel discussion among women in the STEAM fields from academia and industry.

I had the pleasure of advocating for school principals this week in Washington DC.  I appreciate the support of our RI delegation in DC.  Extremely supportive of education!

I also had the opportunity to hear from White House staffer Jason Botel and Senator Al Franken at the National Leaders Conference with NAESP

I was also fortunate to bring my family to DC for a portion of this trip.  We had a great time visiting the sites.
